Attendance

Good attendance is vital to ensure children make progress with their learning and reach their full potential.

The national expectation for all children is 96% attendance.

Start of the day

School gates will open at 8:40am and you should take your child straight to their classroom.

Gates will close at 8:50am and registers will be taken. If you arrive once the gates are shut you should bring your child to the school office where they will be marked as late. Children arriving after 9:15am will be marked as an unauthorised absence for the morning session which will count towards your child’s overall attendance figure.

Absence

If your child is absent you should call the school office or leave a message on the answer phone explaining why your child is absent.

If your child is absent and we have not received a message from you we will contact you to find out why your child is absent.

Acceptable reasons for absence

  • Genuine illness (not mild colds, coughs or tiredness – if you are in any doubt as to whether you should keep your child off, contact school and we can advise you.)
  • Emergency dental/medical appointments (routine appointments should be made out of school hours).
  • An unavoidable family emergency (evidence may be required)
  • Attending an interview for another school.
